News of the boating mishap in Cambodia got stuck in my head since this morning. Not that I know the 5 Singaporean rowers personally, but because they were all at the prime of their lives when it happened. 5 promising national athletes, that is.

As I read the newspaper coverage which includes detailed life stories of these young chaps, there was a growing and eventually overwhelming sense of guilt. All the things that got me disoriented become negligible and silly. Honestly, if my life were to come to such an abrupt halt as well, I would definitely leave in shame!

Well, this is going to be a tough period for all the loved ones of the 5 national athletes. Let's all just keep them in our daily prayers.
